When given the right opportunities, we love to have volunteers to help us! We are an organization that takes pride in giving resources to our community. What better way to do that, than having volunteers to make our dreams come true.
As many children have been impacted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many students are struggling with online schooling. Due to this, ALAS has stepped in and has been able to provide amazing volunteers to families around the Springfield area. Many of our volunteers have been providing one on one assistance to students of all ages and all educational needs such as reading, writing, math, as well as English lessons.
Visit our contact information page and send us a message if you or anyone you know would like to volunteer!
2020-2021 ALAS Volunteers
Hi, my name is Erin, and I have been volunteering with ALAS since January of 2020. I am finishing my last year of undergrad at Missouri State, and hope to go to grad school for Public Administration. Volunteering with ALAS has led me to realize, following undergrad, I want to be more involved with nonprofit organizations. Working hands-on with Jordana has led to a lot of my personal development and I truly love their organization and their intentions!
Hey there, my name is Alexuz and I am from St. Robert, MO. I go to Missouri State University and I am working towards my Mathematics B.S. degree. In my free time I like to play tennis and simply being outdoors! By joining alas, it gave me the opportunity to become more involved with cultures outside my own, and I am grateful of that opportunity.
Hi! My name is Joanna and I am a Junior at Missouri State University. I am a Global Studies major with a minor in Diversity Studies, Political Science, and Latin American and Caribbean studies. A fun fact about me is I am a member of the A Cub Bella team on campus and I work at Starbucks. I am grateful that ALAS has created a safe space for families in the Springfield community to seek help, especially families of color. I am glad to be apart of their team!
