Knowledge is power scholarship 2020

Information

We are looking to provide six $400 scholarships that can be applied towards attaining higher education. Students must be currently enrolled or accepted into Missouri State University or Ozarks Technical Community College to be considered. 

Requirements

Applicants MUST be first-generation students AND meet ONE of the requirements below:

  • Latinx/Hispanic

  • Black/ African-American

  • LGBTQ+

  • English as a second language

  • DACA recipient

  • Show financial need

How to apply:

To be considered for this scholarship, students will have the option to submit a typed essay or submit a personal video response. Applicants should submit their entries via email at sgf.mo.alas@gmail.com

Essay Submission:

Essay length must be at least a 250 word minimum and no longer than 500 words. Choose one prompt to answer. 

Prompt 1: We believe that giving back to the community that helped shape who you are today is a way to change the world. Explain how you can plan to give back to the community that has helped you become the person you are today or the person you want to be.

Prompt 2: Discuss your plans regarding your field of study and goals. Explain what factors influenced you on choosing that specific field of study. 

Video submission:

Show or explain to us, the community of where you are from. We believe that the community you come from does not define who you are, but helps shape the person you become. 

Within the video, make sure to discuss your favorite spots, where you grew up and how this community has shaped you. Also discuss your future plans regarding your field of study and goals.

Coronavirus

COVID-19: A finales de Diciembre de 2019 se notificaron los primeros casos de un nuevo coronavirus en la ciudad de Wuhan (China). 

La Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) ha declarado la situación una pandemia. Hay personas infectadas en la mayoría de los países y se recomienda estar en casa en estos momentos, hasta que se controle la situación.

COVID-19: In late December 2019, the first cases of a new coronavirus were reported in the city of Wuhan (China). The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the situation a pandemic. People are infected in most countries and it is recommended to be at home at this time, until the situation is controlled.
